A major point of debate about morally good motives concerns an ambiguity in the truism that and strong-willed people desire to do what is right. This shaped by assumption “what’s right” combines only two ways with “desire,” leading distinct de dicto re readings truism. However, a third reading such expressions possible, first identified Janet Fodor, which has gone wholly unappreciated philosophers this debate.
